“Have a good day, good music, good coffee, and a good notebook” has always been a motto of TRAVELER’S COMPANY USA staff. Our affection for analog tools extends to our five senses: a good writing instrument, a bold cup of coffee, our beloved TRAVELER’S notebook, and, of course, the comforting ambiance of good music in our ears. TRAVELER’S COMPANY USA was established in Long Beach, California, in June 2020, and over the course of five years, we have developed meaningful relationships with our local neighbors and small businesses that make the city vibrant and interesting.
TWELVES RECORD
Featured in LA Magazine’s “5 Best Independent Record Stores in Los Angeles”, TWELVES RECORD shines as a hidden gem on E 7th St in Long Beach. Shop owner Hector Waluyo started this musical venture in October 2019 with a mission to share his passion for rare and collectible vinyl that he has curated over the years. Traveling is a big part of his lifestyle as he digs through bins and looks through crates for rare and exciting records for the store. During rough times during the early days of the pandemic, TWELVES RECORD continues to connect with fans by spreading the love for records and allowing people to discover this community through music.
The bright yellow façade of the storefront invites passersby to take a peek. The famous yellow pillars by the front door also hosted iconic bands such as The Black Keys, The Sacred Souls, and more. While the shop attracts seasoned vinyl enthusiasts, it is also drawing new customers and fans through its unique sound and the nostalgia for analog.
“For me, records and record shops are a little different than most retail places,” Waluyo said. “[I] think it’s more of an experience being there and browsing and finding something that you weren’t sure you were going to buy in the first place.”
TWELVES RECORD’s artistic spin in its interior furnishing and expressive posters are part of its charm. Long Beach artist Tony Bach contributes his creative expertise to TWELVES RECORD daily, working from his studio and loft space connected to the store. Tony Bach and Hector Waluyo connected through their passion for skateboarding subculture, music, design, and the creative energy of the Long Beach community.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of TRAVELER’S COMPANY USA and our journey with the TRAVELER’S notebook community in North America. We invite TWELVES RECORD, who welcomes their sixth anniversary in Long Beach, to join our party and spin up some exciting tunes for our love of analog.
TWELVES RECORD Collaboration
TWELVES RECORD’s name is inspired by the iconic size of the twelve-inch vinyl (often written as just 12”). Creative designer Tony Bach designed two refills (Passport Size) for this special collaboration, inspired by motifs around the iconic TWELVES RECORD store. Enjoy documenting your findings when you visit a record store or write about the experience as you listen to your favorite tune.
Our collaboration features two TRAVELER’S notebook refills in the Passport Size. Similar to the smaller 7-inch vinyl records that typically carry only a single on the A-side and B-side, we believe that you can compose an exciting single in your compact TRAVELER’S notebook Passport Size.
TRAVELER’S notebook refill TWELVES RECORD Crate (Passport Size)
This design pays homage to the bin-diving culture among music lovers, especially the tactile feeling of sifting through stacks of vinyl with your fingers. The cover features the milk crates one would typically find at record stores—each of them an exciting chest awaiting audiophiles to discover its treasure.
The design is printed in black and white and is embossed with foil in gold and features MD Cream paper.
TRAVELERS’ notebook refill TWELVES RECORD Sticker (Passport Size)
This whimsical design is an ode to TWELVES RECORD and its quirky personality. Inspired by the street culture of skateboard stickers, this refill is covered with motifs that make up TWELVES RECORD and its story.
From the iconic snake plant that lives outside the front entrance of the store to references to their favorite cult-classic movie, can you spot more easter eggs about the story of Long Beach?
The design features MD Paper in a 5mm dot grid.
