What an eventful August it had been this year. Our team at TRAVELER’S COMPANY USA completed its attendance at two memorable pen shows and came back filled with heartwarming stories and fond memories. The SF International Pen Show 2022 is held from August 26th – 28th at Redwood City, attracting analog and pen lovers from the West Coast to visit. Throughout the three days, we enjoyed this celebration along with fans and new customers of TRAVELER’S notebook. What was your favorite moment from the SF Pen Show?
Compared to the previous year, we expanded our table size to two booths in the light-filled Foyer. Our L-shaped booth displays TRAVELER’S notebook refills, 2022 Limited Sets, soon-to-be-discontinued B-Sides & Rarities refills, BRASS PRODUCTS, and more.
Since last year’s event, we introduced our exclusive TRC USA Limited Refill with the theme California Coast and Let’s Go on a Road Trip on our online store. These refills are fan favorites and are the perfect match with our fans in California fans—many of them had taken such a road trip throughout this summer!
Did you stop by the booth to collect stamps at our Pen Show Stamp Caravan? We expanded the stamping space so more people can enjoy the experience at the same time. We shared stamps that are only available at TRAVELER’S FACTORY in Japan, 2022 Limited Set-themed stamps, and our large store stamp for TRC USA. Our fans innovatively use the stamps to customize newly purchased refills, old notebooks, and even leather covers.
One of the special events we offer this year is the opportunity to pre-order and customize your own TRAVELER’S COMPANY BRASS BALLPOINT PEN. This experience is typically available at our TRAVELER’S FACTORY KYOTO store where you can create unique phrases to emboss onto a BRASS BALLPOINT PEN with new colors. We customized over 100 BRASS BALLPOINT PENS in Sakura and Green Tea colors during the SF Pen Show, and we can’t wait to deliver them to you later this fall.
Finally, we collaborated with Janet Takahashi, a talented artist and TRAVELER’S notebook user whom we met last year at the pen show event, to hold a special TRAVEL & SKETCH workshop. In this intimate class of 20 attendees, Janet takes everyone on an imaginary trip to downtown San Francisco, collecting ephemera, collaging, and creating memorable spreads in their TRAVELER’S notebook. Together with Janet, we visited the Golden Gate Bridge, the Painted Ladies, Tartine, and Dandelion Chocolates, all iconic sights in San Francisco.
Janet, being a talented watercolor artist, also shares valuable tips and tricks for creating art on the go. The attendees made makeshift supply pouches for sketching while traveling. She also shares fundamental tips for sketching and painting your surroundings.
In this special pen show event, we encountered so many TRAVELER’S notebook enthusiasts. Some fans sought us out for our Pop-Up, while some encountered us serendipitously while they are traveling to San Francisco. The best part of the show is being able to catch a glimpse of everyone’s TRAVELER’S notebook.
